Colloquium: Understand and Mitigate Work Stress from Different Perspectives
Content
Stress at work is a common experience across various professions. It can arise from multiple factors or conditions, such as high workloads, job insecurity, and interpersonal conflicts. Additionally, organizational changes, like restructuring or downsizing, as well as societal changes, such as economic instability or weak social safety system, can further escalate stress levels.
In this colloquium, we invited three PhD candidates to discuss the central question: How can we effectively mitigate workplace stress and foster a healthier, more resilient workforce?
Tina Armasu (RUG) will guide us through typical working hours, exploring how work routines shape productivity - until disruption strikes. Moving beyond working hours, Yasmin Abbaszadeh (UvA) will introduce us to chronotype clashes that may heighten stress levels. Finally, Julia Houben (UU) will bring our focus to PhD researchers - working without fixed schedules under high pressure, often in socially unsafe environments.
The colloquium will take place in person at University of Groningen on June 3rd 2025 (2 pm - 5 pm), followed by a borrel (5 pm - 6 pm). Participants will be awarded 0.5 EC for actively taking part in this colloquium.
