Content
In this course, participants will learn the basics of the statistical programming language R. R is increasingly being used by researchers to prepare, analyze, and visualize data. Our approach to teaching R will consist of going over the basics of R, and focus on common visualizations of analyses of data that are common in psychological research.
Learning goals
The participant will learn how to…
1) Perform basic R operations (e.g., writing R scripts, executing code, using functions, creating variables).
2) Import tabular data (e.g., text files, SPSS files).
3) Perform basic data cleaning operations (e.g., filtering data, selecting columns, renaming variables, summarizing data).
4) Create beautiful data visualizations (e.g., histograms, scatter plots, violin plots).
5) Perform common statistical techniques (e.g., t-tests, correlations, and regression).
Preparation
Please bring your own laptop, and install R and RStudio software on your laptop before the course.
